Where Horror Meets Art

Born in the underground zine scene of 2011, Tales of Blood and Roses emerged like a whispered curse—three critically acclaimed issues steeped in shadow and sharp with thorns. Then it vanished.

For more than a decade, it lay dormant.

Now, fed by a successful BackerKit campaign and summoned by loyal readers hungry for its return,
the darkness rises again.

Issue #4 descends into the theme Dangerous Games—where every move carries consequence, every wager demands sacrifice, and the rules are carved in bone and sealed in blood.

This haunting installment features a story by acclaimed author Kevin David Anderson and an enlightening interview with author/editor John Gregory Betancourt, joining our cadre of ToBaR conspirators—writers and artists who understand that play is often just another word for peril.

Enter a world where a Dungeon Master doesn’t merely roll dice but bends reality itself—and where a quiet gardening competition hides rot beneath the soil and murder beneath polite smiles.
Innocence wilts quickly here.

At over 100 pages, this issue is thick with dread—twisted fiction, dastardly puzzles, dark poetry, and disturbing art that may be watching you back.

Unsolicited submissions remain open through June 30, 2026. Some brave souls have already stepped into the circle, offering art, poetry, prose, and puzzles. Others still hesitate at the edge.

The game has begun.
Come and play—if you dare.
